Some Details on Lubbers Quarters Cay

lubber-map-2.jpg (14748 bytes)

Here's a map of Lubbers Quarters Cay.  The dirt roads are shown as dashed lines.  Some of the residences shown on the map are private and some are rentals.  We found several of the rentals on the internet.   "Cracker P's" is the one and only commercial establishment (restaurant) on the island.  There used to be another restaurant next to the community dock named "Yahoes" but as of May 2004, they were still out-of-business.  As you can see, the southern end of the island is more populated. Back in 2001, say about 20 houses?.  When we were there again in 2004, the size and the number of houses on the southern end had grown considerably.

If you like a more "social" experience then I'd suggest renting down there.  When we were walking around the southern end late one afternoon, we heard several conversations amongst the houses and a radio off somewhere in the background.  However, if you're looking for a quieter, more natural, more secluded, more private experience, then Moonrise is definitely your best bet.!

After our last visit in 2004, we noticed that the southern end of the island is even more developed with several larger waterfront houses.
