In June of 2013, we drove north from Laurel, MD to Minnesota for a week of bicycling followed by a week of touristing in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

The first week was spent driving up to Minnesota, driving along the Mississippi River south of Minneapolis/St Paul, and then doing the organized bike ride. The bike ride was run by Russ of havefunbiking.com. The ride we went on was called the "Mississippi River Ride 1". The ride started at the headwaters of the Mississippi River at Itasca State Park and then followed the river downstream to Big Lake, MN.

The second week was spent hiking, canoeing and exploring the north shore of Lake Superior and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA). The BWCA is a remote wilderness area along the boundary of Minnesota and Canada. It is known for its pristine wilderness conditions and many lakes.

Week 1 - The Minnesota River Bike Ride.

Week 2 - Touristing in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area
