Governor's Harbor Photos

Governor's Harbor is the largest town nearby to where we were staying in "le Sable Rose" in the settlement of North Palmetto Point. There are several grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, and the well appointed Haines Public Library. The library is particularly important because they have a computer lab on the second floor where you can rent a computer by the hour and access your home email or print out the boarding passes for your return flights in the states. It was set up by a man in Rhode Island in memory of his wife. He has the computer network set-up so that he can monitor it and make simple repairs remotely from Rhode Island. When he comes down to the island for his visits, he can do more major work if it's needed. It's a fabulous little library.

The main grocery store in town is Burrows Grocery store shown below.

This is the airport at Governor's Harbor. The yellow building to the right is the terminal for international flights.
It houses the departure lounge, arrivals lounge, customs, and immigration. It's all very compact and efficient.
When you come out of the door you can meet up with your taxi driver or car rental agent.
