Kemp's Creek Photos

One day we drove to Kemp's Creek to try the snorkeling there. Kemp's Creek is a small creek that flows into a small cove that then opens into the Caribbean. The shore of the cove is very rough rock that makes it difficult to access the water. There was no sandy beach. The cove was rather shallow, about 5 feet deep? There were a lot of small fish in the cove. Best snorkeling was to go thru the opening of the cove and out into the Caribbean. There were several crocky coral heads just outside the opening that provided the best snorkeling area. Just as I swam out thru the opening I caught sight of a large (6 ft wing span) Manta Ray? (positive ID in question). I saw it just in time before it swam out of sight.

The photo below shows the cove, Kemp's Creek comes in from the right side. Scroll to the right to see the whole photo.

Sorry the photos below are rather fuzzy. They were taken with a film underwater camera and had to be scanned and "post-processed".

Here's some of the fish we saw at Kemp's Creek.

Gray Angelfish
Bar Jack

Starting from above and
going around clockwise I believe they are;
1) Gray Angelfish
2) Bar Jack
3) Houndfish
4) Barracuda
5) Bluehead
(Sorry if the shots are fuzzy, but it's hard to
keep the darting fish in the viewfinder, while also
keep yourself from bobbing up to the surface.)
